CAMDEN – Beatrice Robbins Patterson, 95, died peacefully Jan. 3, 2010, at a Camden nursing home after a brief illness. Born May 8, 1914, in Portland, she was the daughter of George W. and Anna Robbins. Bea was educated in South Portland schools and graduated from Maine General Hospital – MMC, as a registered nurse in 1936. She was the wife of the late Cyril F. “Pat” Patterson, who died in 1995. Bea raised a family, was a devoted wife to Pat and worked as a registered nurse until their retirement to Florida in 1979. Her lifelong passions were singing at South Portland Congregational Church, reading, completing crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. Bea moved to Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill in 2002 when it opened. She is survived by her two sons, George and his wife, Elsie, of Frederick, Md., and Jim and his wife, Pauline, of Camden; and two grandchildren, Mark of Frederick, Md., and Bill of New York City. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews in the Portland area. She was predeceased by her brothers, George E. Robbins and his wives, Ellen and Mimi, and Irwin L. Robbins and his wife, Anne. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers of Anderson Inn, who provided dedicated care to Bea during her final days. A celebration of her life will be held at Anderson Inn, Camden, and will be announced in the spring on her birthday, May 8.
