ROCKLAND – Mary Reynolds Livingstone, 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, surrounded by her family at Knox Center. Born Aug. 2, 1921, in Waterville, she was the daughter of Ralph Leavitt and Jessie Macdonald Reynolds. Growing up in Waterville, she attended local schools, and graduated from Colby College with a degree in sociology. She worked in the admissions office at Boston University, where she met her husband, Philip Livingstone. They raised their three daughters in the family home in Winchester, Mass. In 1978, they built their retirement home in Calais, on the Saint Croix River. She spent 14 years there enjoying her numerous whale and bird watching trips, as well as volunteering for the Red Cross, Maine Audubon and Calais Library. Her greatest pleasure came from the river, watching the eagles, and her beloved golden retrievers, Sonny and Robbie. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip; and a brother, John Reynolds. She is survived by her three daughters, Julie Tagen and her husband, Scott, of East Greenwich, R.I., Martha Livingstone of East Machias, and Hildegard Livingstone and her husband, Joe Curll, of Hope; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Tagen and his wife, Vivian, Dr. Michael Tagen, Laurie Tagen, Sarah Livingstone, Nathaniel Curll, Benjamin Curll and Philip Curll; and two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan Tagen.
