EASTON – Franklin Bennett Scribner died Dec. 31, 2009, at The Aroostook Medical Center. He was born March 4, 1919, in Kingman, son of Frank K. and K. Gertrude (Clark) Scribner. Franklin served his country with honor and valor during World War II as a navigator with B17 Crew No. 42, 602nd Squadron, of the 398th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force, flying 32 combat missions over Germany. Throughout his life he remained close with his “brother” crewmembers. After the war, he began his accounting career at Maine Potato Growers, Presque Isle. He left his position at Carroll’s Auto Sales in 1968 to move to Florida, where he lived for nearly 28 years before returning to Northern Maine. He was a 32nd degree Mason and served as master of Trinity Lodge, Presque Isle, in 1957. He was also a past worthy patron of Order of Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia (Tompkins) Scribner of Easton; son, Douglas and his, wife, Janice, of Lutz, Fla.; sister, Beulah Marquis of Easton; brother, Richard and wife, Ann, of Presque Isle; seven nieces and six nephews, including special nephew, Kevin Marquis of Easton. He was predeceased by brothers, Harold and Ernest. Franklin was a loyal and loving son, brother, husband and father. He leaves an irreversible void in the hearts of all of us who loved him. A memorial celebration of Franklin’s life was held for family and friends Jan. 7 at the home of Kevin and Cindy Marquis, led by the Rev. Matthew Maxwell of Easton Wesleyan Church.
