CASTINE – Suzanne Brebbia passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, in Castine. She was 75 years old. She was born on May 30, 1934, in Boston, and raised in Brookline, Mass. Ms. Brebbia was the daughter of the late J. Dante Brebbia and Gertrude Hogan Brebbia. After graduating from Brookline High School, she received a bachelor’s degree from Regis College, in Weston, Mass., and continued her studies at Boston University in the field of education. She was a faculty member of schools in El Paso, Texas; Dedham, Mass.; and Montgomery County public schools in Maryland. As a teacher, she always adhered to a standard of excellence and was held in high esteem by generations of her students, their parents and her colleagues. The world will be poorer for her passing. Following her retirement in 1992, she became a year round resident in Castine with her dear friend Jane Warker, a longtime resident. Her survivors include her two brothers, Dr. Dante Robert Brebbia (Anne Fulboam Brebbia) of Pearl River, N.Y., and John Henry Brebbia (Patricia Burke Brebbia) of Las Vegas; 10 nieces and nephews, 18 great-nieces and great-nephews, several cousins and many cherished friends. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Our Lady of Holy Hope, in Castine, by the Rev. Bruce Siket, parochial vicar. Burial will be 12:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley, Mass., and will be officiated by the Rev. Mark J. Riley, parochial vicar, St. Paul’s Parish.
