BANGOR – Lois J. (McPherson) Libby passed away peacefully Jan. 16, 2010, at a Bangor rehabilitation facility. Lois was born in Bangor, the daughter of Alexander G. McPherson and Helen (Crane) McPherson. She was a graduate of Bangor High School and Gillman’s School of Business. Her employment history included positions at Freese’s department store, Eastern Fine Paper Co. and the City of Bangor Welfare Department. Later in her career, she worked as a dental assistant at her son’s dental practice in Bangor. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Reginald A. Libby; and her precious daughter, Anne L. (Libby) Francini. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by three sisters, Hazel, Dorothy and Helen; and three brothers, Ralph, John and Leo. She is survived by two devoted sons, R. Joseph Libby, D.M.D., of Hermon and James F. Libby of Hampden and their very special spouses, Mary Ann and Linda. She is also survived by nine beloved grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Ryan, Alex, Jennifer, Nicole, Kristen, Kelsey and Lindsay; three beloved great-grandchildren, Mike, Makayla and Aedan; many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Lois was a lifelong communicant at St. Paul the Apostle, Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20. Interment will be after at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio Street, Bangor. Those wishing to remember Lois in a special way may make gifts in her name to Susan G.
