BUCKSPORT and LEVANT – Daniel Stewart Jr., 57, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at his farm in Levant with his loving family by his side. He was born Aug. 23, 1952, in Bangor, the son of Daniel and Patricia (Ripley) Stewart. Dan was educated in Bucksport schools and graduated from Bucksport High School, Class of 1970. He was very active in the Bucksport community; he coached little league, pop-warner football, served as president of Bucksport High School Boosters, and served two terms on Bucksport Town Council. Dan was a past master of Rising Sun Masonic Lodge 71 AF & AM of Orland, Scottish Rites and Anah Temple Shrine of Bangor, serving with the Academicians. He was also a member of Franklin Street United Methodist Church. Dan was a true outdoorsman, he enjoyed many memorable times hunting, fishing and camping. He had a great love and pride for his family. Dan was quick witted, had a great sense of humor and could tell many a story. Dan’s profession as a general contractor brought him into many homes in Bucksport and the surrounding area. He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Nancy (Roi) Stewart of Levant; two sons, Vincent “Jimmy” Stewart of Levant, and Daniel “Tiger” Stewart and his wife, Jeanine, of Lake Mary, Fla.; grandchildren who brought special joy to his life, Patrick Dedmon, Dylan Dedmon, Cassidy Dedmon and Rylee Stewart; one sister, Pamela Geagan and her husband, Gregory, of Orrington; mother-in-law, Helen Delores Roi of Orland; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Arthur and Durena Roi, Susan and Preston Eastman, Jim and Robin Roi, Tommy and Kate Roi, Charlie and Sharon Roi, Sally Roi, Mike and Sherri Roi, and Tim and Hazel Roi, special nephew, Mitchell Roi; as well as many other special nieces and nephews. Dan is also survived by special friend, Ed Maguire; as well as many other loving friends to numerous too mention. In addition to his parents, Dan was predeceased by a special uncle, Linwood Stewart; and one nephew, Tristan Blethan. Family and friends will gather for visitation 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where Rising Sun Masonic Lodge 71 will do their memorial service beginning at 6:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held noon Thursday, Jan. 21, at Franklin Street United Methodist Church, Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating.
