PALMYRA – Dorothy T. Booth, 85, died Jan. 20, 2010, at a Pittsfield hospital after a short period of ill health. She was born Nov. 15, 1924, in New York City, the daughter of Edward and Louise (Saltes) Hazuka. Dorothy was educated in New York schools. She married Gerald B. Booth July 12, 1951, in New York City. He predeceased her Jan 24, 2005, after 53 years of marriage. Dorothy and Gerald lived in Newport for many years where she was a faithful volunteer worker at Newport Public Library. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Pittsfield. She is survived by her son, Paul G. Booth of South Portland; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Gerald, she was predeceased by her brother, Edward Hazuka Jr. Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport, where funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, with Deacon Fred Harrigan officiating. Spring burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Newport, with Father C. James Martel officiating.
