VAN BUREN – Ludger J. Martin, 95, died Jan. 20, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at a Van Buren health care facility, after a short illness. He was born Jan. 8, 1915, in Keegan, the son of Denis and Catherine (Michaud) Martin. His lifetime work was in the logging industry, road construction, laborer for various farmers and at Loring Air Force Base. Ludger was a devout Catholic and communicant of the former St. Remi Parish, Keegan. He is survived by two daughters, Velma Belanger and husband, Larry, of Plainville, Conn., and Sharon Pelletier and husband, Ron, of Merrimack, N.H.; three sons, Raymond “Pepper” and his wife, Lydia, of Van Buren, Eugene and special friend, Louise Gauthier, of Plainville, Conn., and Michael “Mickey” and wife, Nell, of Litchfield; two sisters, Yvonne Grivois of Waterville, Winnie Butler of Gallatin, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Ned and wife, Mona Cyr; and two special friends, Rose Marie Martin and Gary “Bozo” Bouchard. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife, Carmen (Cyr) Martin in February 2006. Relatives and friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of service Friday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 3 p.m. Friday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be at the parish cemetery.
