BAR HARBOR – Claribel G. Regimbal, 77, passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was born Oct. 16, 1932, in Town Hill, the daughter of Mary Higgins Gardner. Claribel graduated from Bar Harbor High School and spent most of the years in her beloved town of Bar Harbor. She worked initially in banking in Portland and Bar Harbor. Then Claribel worked for Jackson Lab for more than 35 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Church and spent many past years active with YWCA, Mount Desert Island YMCA, Council of Churches, American Cancer Daffodil Days, Down East AIDS Network, Girl Scouts, Mount Desert Island Swim team and the Mount Desert Island food pantry. Claribel’s best times were with her husband camping, attending pug rallies, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was delighted at being able to spend time and laugh with her new great-grandson, Riley. Claribel is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Bruce Regimbal; her daughter, Nancy Regimbal of Delaware; daughter, Alice Workman and husband, Stewart, of Lamoine; grandchildren, Will Duffy and girlfriend, Rebecca Gorfin, of Surry, Nicole Endre and boyfriend, Gleason Smith, of Lamoine, Gavin Endre and girlfriend, Rachelle Carver, of Cherryfield; and a special and beloved great-grandson, Riley Andrew Smith. Claribel will also be truly missed by her pug, Princess; her special neighbors and wonderful friends, and e-mail buddies. Claribel was predeceased by her mom, Mary Cirard; her adopted father, William Gardner; and her stepfather, Peter Cirard. Mass services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Holy Redeemer Church, Bar Harbor, by Father O’Hara. If unable to attend the service, please join the family 11 a.m. Saturday at Parish Hall, Ledgelawn Avenue, Bar Harbor. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Claribel’s memory to The Ark for animal shelter in Cherryfield or the American Cancer Society, Maine Chapter.
