COOPER – Carolyn Leone (Feeney) Hatton passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, with her family and best friend by her side at a Bangor hospital. Callie was born Oct. 28, 1946, in Machias, the daughter of Colin and Electa Feeney. She graduated from Machias Memorial High School, Class of 1965. She was a member of the Order of the Rainbow, where she received the Grand Cross of Honor and advanced to past worthy advisor. She studied business and worked in the insurance field along with many years of substitute teaching at Alexander Elementary School. Most recently she enjoyed working as a personal care attendant for individuals with special needs in the Bangor area. She was also active in town affairs for the town of Cooper and served on various boards. Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm, with whom she owned and operated a trucking company from their residence on Cathance Lake. She missed him greatly and hadn’t been herself since his passing. She was also predeceased by her father, Colin; brother, Gregg; sister-in-law, Nellie; and special brother-in-law, Carleton. Callie is survived by her mother, Electa Feeney; a special baby sister, Alice Ackley and husband, James; sister, Rowena Higinbotham and husband, Edward; brother, Glen Feeney and wife, Sandy; brother, Gordon Feeney; special sister-in-law, Betty Hatton; her children: son, Thomas Foss and wife, Bobbie, daughter, Lynda Foss and friend, Steve, and daughter, Heidi Wood and husband, Andrew; stepchildren, Bruce Hatton and special friend, Stacy, Douglas, Barbara and Marsha; grandchildren, Aaron, Austin, Alexis, Emily Jane, Quentin, Kyle, Courtney and special granddaughter, Alicia Lynn, who she lovingly raised and recently gave her the joy of becoming a great-grandmother to Lilly Elizabeth; and lifelong best friend who was always by her side, Anne Gaddis. A celebration of life will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at Center Street Congregational Church with a gathering of family and friends in the vestry after. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Eastern Maine Medical Center cardiac or coronary care units for the excellent care she received.
