MILFORD, N.H. – Mary Cox, 83, died Jan. 21, 2010, in Milford, N.H. She was born March 26, 1926, in Jonesboro, a daughter of the late Oscar and Alice (Fish) Mawhinney. Mrs. Cox resided in Milford, N.H., for 17 years and formerly lived in Bedford, N.H., for more than 30 years and Jonesboro, for many years. She enjoyed genealogy research, Bible study groups, counter cross-stitch, music and especially playing the piano. Mrs. Cox also enjoyed her many friends at Beech Brook and getting together to play dominoes and cribbage. Mrs. Cox was a longtime member of Jonesboro Union Church, Jonesboro. She was predeceased by her husband, Darrell R. Cox, in 1996; a brother, William Mawhinney of Belfast; and a sister, Lila Smith of Monmouth. Family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen G. and Paulina Cox of Mont Vernon, N.H., and Norman D. and Lou Ann Cox of Greenville, N.H.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Robertson of Lewiston; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Feb. 6 at Beech Brook Community Room, 80 Adams St., Milford, N.H. Burial will be in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Milford, N.H.
