DEDHAM and SOMERS, Conn. – Raymond “Buddy” Day died Jan. 29, 2010, in Bangor. He was born April 18, 1938, in Brewer, the son of Russell and Jean Day. He graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1957, and from the University of Maine in 1962, and was a member of Phi Eta Kappa. He retired from the Ethicon division of Johnson and Johnson after 29 years. He was an avid sports fan and sportsman. He was a member of Penobscot Salmon Club. His favorite activity was fly-fishing on the Merimachi River in Canada. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Roberta Day; a daughter, Kim and her husband, Steve Caffe and their children, Jordan, Sean and Lauren, of Barrington, Ill.; a daughter, Karen Howorth and her daughter, Elizabeth of Mansfield, Mass.; a daughter, Kathy and her husband, Brian Daigle and their children, Robby, Ellie, Thomas and Kiersten, of Newtown, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Delores St. Lawrence of Nashua, N.H.; nephews, John, Tom and Steve St. Lawrence; nieces, Julie Martin and Linda Crowell of Nashua, N.H.; and several cousins. Also, Sharon Hatt of Bucksport. He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Hatt. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A service honoring his life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Holden Congregational Church, Church Road, Holden, with the Rev. Dana Douglass, pastor, presiding. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be immediately afterward. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer, in the spring.
