JONESPORT – June Ellen Smith Griffin, 54, went to be with her Lord Feb. 5, 2010, in Beals. She was born Jan. 29, 1956, the daughter of Leon and Angelena (Alley) Smith. June was a graduate of Jonesport-Beals High School, Class of 1974, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maine at Machias. She was a very talented quilter, and loved making jewelry and working in her gardens. June was a great lover of animals. She is survived by her husband, Lowell; daughters, Angela L. Merchant and Katie E. Griffin, both of Malden, Mass.; sons, Seth P. Griffin and Ross W. Griffin, both of Jonesport; and one grandson, Amir Leon Mahmoud. Also surviving are her parents, Leon and Angelena; a sister, Patricia S. Carver and husband, Dwight; a brother, Timothy L. Smith and wife, Sue; special uncles, Donnie Alley and Todd Croteau; a special friend, Lynn Alley; four nieces, three great-nieces, one great-nephew, several aunts, uncles and cousins. June was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Ann Smith; and nephew, Toby Jay Carver. Private funeral services will be at a later date. A service of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias.
