SANFORD – Delia Plourde, formerly of Fort Kent, died of natural causes Feb. 27, 2010, with her family by her side at the Newton Center. She was born Oct. 18, 1915, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Zoe and Phydime (Michaud) Dubois. Delia worked at W.T. Grant Co. department store and later as a human services counselor in Fort Kent. Mrs. Plourde was a devout member of St. Louis Parish, Fort Kent, where she was a member of Ladies of St. Anne and an enthusiastic member of the choir. In 1976, she and her husband, Arthur, retired to a small house they built on Eagle Lake, where they enjoyed gardening and the comfort of friends and extended family. In 1988 they moved to Springvale to be closer to their children and she attended St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church, where she was an active member of Ladies of St. Anne and a member of the choir. Delia was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, in 1993; by her children, Harold and Helen, who died in early childhood; and by Gilda LaPointe, in 2007. She is survived by her sister, Clara McEdwards and husband, Donald, of Phoenix; three brothers, Ernest Dubois and wife, Cecile, of Plainville, Conn., Gilbert Dubois and wife, Natalie, of Fort Kent, and Clarence Dubois and wife, Shirley, of Kissimmee, Fla.; and her children, Joan Banville of Southington, Conn., Wanita Cyr and husband, Donald, of Millinocket, Mina Boilard and husband, George, of Clifton Park, N.Y., Joel Plourde and wife, Marsha, of Springvale, Phillip Plourde and wife, Deborah, of Clifton Park, N.Y., and David Plourde and wife, Rebecca Johnson, of Concord, N.H. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, whose birthdays she recalled from memory even to the last. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Autumn Green Funeral Home, 47 Oak St., Alfred. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church, 10 Payne St., Springvale. A reception will be held at Crossroads United Methodist Church, 16 Grammar Road, Sanford. Committal prayers and burial will be later in the spring at St. Louis Cemetery, Fort Kent.
