SEARSPORT – Eleanor M. Snowdale, 86, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, with her loving family by her side in Belfast. She was born July 15, 1923, in Stoughton, Mass., the daughter of Walter and Esther (Beale) Parent. In 1944, she married her husband, Charles W. Snowdale. She worked in customer service at Stoughton Cooperative Bank for 42 years. Eleanor enjoyed knitting things for the church fair, reading, working jigsaw puzzles and her daily visits to Coastal Coffee, Searsport. She was very active in First Congregational Church of Searsport, serving as assistant treasurer and with Women’s Fellowship Group. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Charles; one son, Robert Snowdale and his wife, Jayne, of Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Susan Perry and her husband, George, of Orono; four grandchildren, Emma Snowdale, Benjamin Perry, Rebecca Snowdale and Daniel Perry; as well as several cousins. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at First Congregational Church of Searsport, with a reception immediately after the service in the church vestry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eleanor’s memory may be made to Searsport Congregation-Methodist Food Cupboard, care of Sally Tripp, 213 Black Hill Road, Frankfort, ME 04438. Arrangements are under the directions of Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 31 West Main St., Searsport.
