HARRINGTON – On Tuesday, March 2, 2010, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Virginia S. Kennedy, died peacefully at a Bangor hospital. She was born November of 1917, in Harrington, to Ansel and Viola (Kennedy) Strout. She worked for 10 years as a cook at Narraguagus High School. Virginia was an avid Red Sox fan. She loved sewing and knitting, and was an avid gardener who enjoyed square dancing and snowmobiling. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and playing games with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of Washington County Extension, Narraguagus Snowmobile Club and West Harrington Women’s Club. She is survived by two sons, John “Bucky” Kennedy and his wife, Saundra, and Jimmy Kennedy and his wife, Bobbi, all of Harrington; three daughters, Glenda Grant of Harrington, Linda Farren and her husband, Buddy, of Columbia and Rebecca Davis and her husband, Kirby, of Cherryfield; two sisters, Ruby Howard of Cape Rosier and Jeanette Wright of Ellsworth; 13 grandchildren, Michael Farren and his wife, Cathy, Laurie Fraser and her husband, David, Angel Alley and her husband, Robert, Bruce Farren and his fianc?e, Angela Looke, Janet Farren, Brian Grant and his wife, April, Kevin Grant and his companion, Melanie Stanwood, Cathy Grant, Amanda Kennedy and her companion, Brian LaBlanke, Andrew Kennedy, Stephen Kennedy, Adam Kennedy and his wife, Karen, and Amy Kennedy; 15 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Doreen Strout and Caroline Strout, both of Cherryfield. Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, John Kennedy; and two brothers, Derwood and Preston Strout. A visitation will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. with the Rev. Martha Shaw officiating.
