JONESPORT – Charles Alexis Fagonde Jr., 73, of Beals, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, in Jonesboro. He was born Aug. 31, 1936, in Beals, to Charles Alexis and Martha (Alley) Fagonde Sr. He was a retired lobster fisherman who began fishing the waters around Beals since age 17 and was a member of Downeast Lobsterman’s Association. Charles spent numerous hours socializing and putting together puzzles with friends at Moosabec Video. He coached grammar school and high school basketball, and in recent years enjoyed following the local teams. Charles was also an avid Red Sox fan who enjoyed dancing and reading. He was known for having a good heart and will always be remembered as someone who was a friend to all and was loved by his community. He is survived by his son, Edward and his companion, Trisha Alley; his daughter, Shawna Bickford, all of Jonesport; two brothers, Nathan Fagonde and his wife, Jenny, of Beals, and Rickey Fagonde and his wife, Sally, of Milbridge; special daughters, Michelle Holbrook and her husband, Bion, and Sharon Prout; eight grandchildren, Brett, Sierra, Shawn, Caleb, Osmond, Lexi, Jocelyn and Makayla; and one great-granddaughter, Autumn. Charles was “Uncle Leckie” to many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind special friends, Chuck Bickford and Bud Alley; and other numerous good friends. A celebration of Charles’ life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at Jonesport-Beals High School.
