DOVER-FOXCROFT – Roland “Bud” G. Finley, 87, proud World War II U.S. Army veteran and past commander of Chadbourne Merrill Post No. 29 of the American Legion, passed peacefully March 2, 2010, at Togus Veterans Hospital, Augusta. Bud had been battling severe Alzheimer’s disease and its related dementia for more than eight years. He will be sadly missed. Bud was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of James H. and Mildred (Gray) Finley. He was the beloved husband of Eunice Velma Finley, the “SeDoMoCha Craft Fair lady,” who died Nov. 27, 2006, at age 79. He is survived by his only child, David Lee Finley of Dover-Foxcroft – Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1965; two sisters, Nathalie Jones of West Farmington and Dolly Perry of Wilmington, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Louise Hunt of Niantic, Conn., and Romayne Smith of Truckie, Calif.; a half sister-in-law, Lois Hardy of Enfield, Conn.; three brothers-in-law, Adolph Smith and his wife, Barbara, of Abbot, Ralph Smith and his wife, Doris, of Bristol, Conn., and Percival “Sonny” Smith and his wife, Takeko, of Hermon; many nieces, nephews and grandchildren on both sides of the family too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by three sisters, Lucille Porter, Myrtle Wentworth and Marilyn Finley; a brother-in-law, James Smith; and a half brother-in-law, Seldon Hardy. Friends are invited to call 10 a.m. until time of funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, March 8, at Lary Funeral Home with the Rev. Heather Kurtz officiating.
