MILFORD – Elsie Alma Soucie, 86, died March 10, 2010, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Nov. 30, 1923, in Bath, the daughter of Wilfred and Ann Marie (Collins) Skaling. Elsie grew up in Bath and graduated from Morse High School in 1941. She worked at Bath Iron Works during World War II building ships. Elsie was an active member of St. Ann’s Church and a lifelong communicant of the Catholic Church. She was the local coordinator of ABC Quilts, a master gardener, and was also active in the Cursillo movement. Elsie is survived by her six children, Jim Soucie and wife, Peggy, of Ashby, Mass., Ed Soucie and wife, Shirley, of Bath, Nan Hamel and husband, Tom, of Waltham, Deb Tatham and husband, Charlie, of Barrington, N.H., Karen Sullivan and husband, Stephen, of Milford, and Pete Soucie and wife, Carla, of Milford; one sister, Theresa Ketchem; nine grandchildren, Heather, Kristin, Nate, Bronya, Travis, Jon, Chris, Jennie and Samantha; five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews; and her cat, Ebony. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Walter Soucie; as well as her brothers, Skip and Jim Skaling. Family and friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Bradley. Interment will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery.
