PEMBROKE – Elsie Maude Clement, 93, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, with her family by her side, at a Bangor hospital. Elsie was born Nov. 2, 1916, in Eastport, daughter of the late Allen and Charlotte (Stuart) Sutherland. She was a bookkeeper for Dead River Co. for many years. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Eastport; Pennamaquan No. 146 Order of the Eastern Star, Pembroke; Rebekah Lodge, Pembroke and Pomona Granges, and Pembroke Craft Club. Elsie enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and spending quality time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Howard Clement; two sons, Philip and Robert Clement; a granddaughter, Bonnie Beal; four sisters, three brothers; and a grandson-in-law, Jack McPhail. Surviving are her son, Howard Clement Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Waterboro; four granddaughters, Sherri Ramsdell and her husband, Steve, of Hollis, Pamela Picard and her husband, Jerry, of Saco, Karen McPhail of Pembroke, and Rhonda Brady and her husband, Scott, of Pembroke; eight great-grandchildren, Christopher, Marc Beal and his wife, Judy, Nichole and her husband, Aaron, Jessica, Chelsea, Kaitlin, Tiffany and Matthew; four great-great-grandchildren, Matthew, Bonnie, Michael and Christopher II; many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 1-2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Christ Episcopal Church, 21 Key St., Eastport, where a celebration of Elsie’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. After the service, Elsie will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Howard at Forest Hill Cemetery, Pembroke. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais and Eastport.
