BANGOR – Linda Sue Lorigan-King died peacefully Wednesday evening, March 10, 2010, surrounded by her entire family. Linda was born Oct. 20, 1955, in Fort Knox, Ky., the daughter of Robert E. and Anna Mae (Caldwell) Lorigan. Linda graduated from Metropolitan State College, Denver, with a Bachelor of Science in nursing and was one class away from earning a master’s degree from Thomas College, Waterville. Linda was a teacher for most of her career, and she was a compassionate and caring teacher. She was constantly meeting her former students who loved her and were loved in return. Linda was a captain in the U.S. Army Reserves and served in various medical units throughout the country. Linda had strong pride in serving her country and great pride in being an American citizen. Linda’s greatest joy was raising her two daughters, Arin and Jessie; and loving her grandchildren, Seth and Hayden, who held a very special place in her heart. Surviving Linda are her loving husband, Ellis A. King; her daughters; son-in-law, Greg Rollins; her wonderful grandchildren and her devoted parents. In addition to these family members are her brother, Robert M. Lorigan and his wife, Jami; sisters, Beth Anne Lorigan, Amy Lorigan and Becky Lorigan; and nephews, Keith, Lee, Bobby, Willie, Nick and Matt. Linda’s extended family in Colorado are also loved and appreciated. Linda valued her family above all else. Linda’s entire family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love and support from her extended family and friends. Linda received wonderful care and treatment from CancerCare of Maine and DFCI – Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston. Dr. Irene Ghobrial at DFCI was Linda’s primary oncologist and her love and compassion were a blessing that words cannot express. In addition to these, is the hospice staff who supported Linda and her family during the past several weeks. Friends and family are welcome to attend a memorial celebration 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at her home, 108 Laurel Circle, Bangor.
