DEXTER – Stanton L. McCourt, 72, went home to be with his Lord and Savior March 11, 2010. He was born Aug. 27, 1937, in Wilton, the son of Allen and Winnifred (Howell) McCourt. Stan served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years. He also worked for R.C. Whitney Oil Co. for many years as a deliveryman and later worked for SAD 46 as a bus driver. The job that he really was passionate about was operating McCourt’s Gym, where he enjoyed lifting weights and meeting with his friends. He was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and loved spending time with his church family. He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Margaret (Amsden) McCourt in 1991; and his stepson, Thomas Adams in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Harvey) McCourt of Dexter; a son, Dale McCourt and his wife, Leslie, of North Carolina; three daughters, Debra Mountain and her husband, Timothy, of Dexter, Teresa Page and her boyfriend, Garth Fugel, of Corinth and Hailee McCourt of Dexter; a stepson, Corey Adams and his fiancee, Jamie Sawtelle, of Garland; five grandchildren, Marissa, Brooke, Crissy, Calley and Nicholas; a brother, George McCourt and his wife, Priscilla, of Dexter; two sisters, Evelyn Turner and her husband, Rex, of Guilford and Jane Hibbard Merrill and her husband, Charles, of Dover-Foxcroft; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Exeter, with Pastor Stan Griffin officiating. Spring burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
