BANGOR – Eleanor Martha (Griffeth) Coulton, 91, wife of the late Donald Coulton, M.D., died March 12, 2010, at a local health care facility. She was born June 21, 1918, in Syracuse, N.Y., daughter of Raymond and Clara Estella (Jones) Griffeth. Eleanor graduated valedictorian from Baldwinsville Academy, Baldwinsville, N.Y., and Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, Mass., where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a lab technician at New England Baptist Hospital, Boston, and in later years at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor. Eleanor was also the lab technician for her husband’s obstetric and gynecology practice. She was an active lay member for more than 50 years of All Souls Congregational Church, Bangor. She is survived by her son, Peter Coulton and his wife, Sharon, of East Winthrop; her daughter, Bettyann and her husband, Benjamin Haskell, of Brewer; five grandchildren; six great-grandsons; and a close cousin, Johanna Armstrong of Naples, Fla. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at All Souls Congregational Church, Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. James L. Haddix, pastor and teacher, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service in the church vestry. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
