BELFAST – Margaret H. Talbot, 93, died March 8, 2010, at a Belfast hospital. She was born Jan. 28, 1917, in Belfast, the daughter of Jeremiah and Sally (Gustafson) Hayes. Margaret was a lifetime resident of Belfast. She graduated from Farmington Normal School, and taught in Belfast at Pierce and Anderson schools. She was married to Roy C. Talbot for 64 years prior to his death in 2006. She was very patriotic and proud that Roy was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. She loved her family, and summering with her family and friends at their camp on Pitcher Pond. Margaret was a lifetime member of Pilgrim Edward Doty Society and a member of First Baptist Church, Belfast, where she recently received an award as the longest standing member of the congregation. She contributed to the updated Belfast History, loved handcrafts, knitting, sewing and rug braiding, and was a great seamstress. She particularly loved her work in genealogy. She was also a lifetime member of Primrose Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star and Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 6131, Northport. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy, in 2006; and a sister, Dorothy and son-in-law, John “Butch” Caswell. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Karen Caswell of Belfast; her son, Richard Talbot and his wife, Cheryl, of Massachusetts; a sister, Katherine Sletten of Connecticut; a grandson, Kevin Scott and his wife, Michele, of Belfast; and three great-grandchildren, Kassidy of Virginia, Kellie and Nickolas of Belfast. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 18, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 19, with the Revs. Ken and Pat Parker officiating.
