OLD TOWN and RIDGEFIELD, Wash. – Richard “Jinx” Earle Jenkins passed away March 13, 2010, at his home in Ridgefield, Wash. He was born June 2, 1939, in Old Town, the son of Earle T. and Gladys Mary (Odgen) Jenkins. He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving three tours with the 1st SFG 1st SF Nam, 1964-1965; and 5th SFG MAC-V-SOG, 1966-1967. His courage and bravery earned him a Silver Star and two Bronze Stars. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah and her husband, Mark Brooks; grandchildren, Jennifer Holt, Ryan and Eric Brooks; great-granddaughter, Lauren Holt; sister, Shirley Schmidt of Boise, Idaho; brother, Charles and wife, Ida Jenkins, of Old Town; two aunts, Louise “Wee-Wee” Dall and Pheobe Jenkins; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and friends from Maine. Also, a special mention of his many friends and members of his beloved honor guard in Washington. He was predeceased by his parents; twin brother, Robert “Bobby”; and brothers, Donald Jenkins and John Gilbert. A military service in his memory will be held in Washington.
