HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – Dr. Albert R. Haskell, Ph.D., 84, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, in Hendersonville, Tenn. Born July 6, 1925, in Waterville, he was the son of the late Kennard and Florence Haskell of Cherryfield. Dr. Haskell graduated from Cherryfield Academy and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was married for 54 years to the late Mary Gerth Haskell of Lane, Kan. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas and doctorate at the University of Florida. He was head of research at Marion Laboratories, Kansas City, Kan.; vice chancellor of the medical department at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, Tenn.; and dean of pharmacy at the University of Nebraska before retiring to Florida to enjoy boating and golf. He was predeceased by his brother, Howard; and his sister, Evelyn Farnsworth. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Debbie Haskell of Goodletsville, Tenn.; daughter and son-in-law, Alene and Michael Berezo of St. Louis; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Bob Sigler of Brewer; several cousins, nephews and nieces. The family is planning a private celebration of his life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
