SHERMAN – Gary P. McNally, 71, died peacefully March 17, 2010, at home, with his family and friends by his side. He was born Jan. 31, 1939, at Island Falls, to Frank T. and Evelyn (Dearborn) McNally. Gary grew up and attended school in Sherman and later in life went on to get his degree in plumbing and heating from Northern Maine Technical College in 1988. Gary drove truck and operated heavy equipment, worked for Bangor and Aroostook Railroad and Great Northern Paper Co. He was also a master Maine guide and enjoyed meeting hunters of all kinds and made many lifelong friends. He is survived by Kay (Stevens) McNally of Sherman; three sons, Torrey McNally of Sherman, Brock McNally of East Millinocket and Darrell Lola of Monmouth; three stepchildren, Colette McNally of Stacyville, Colen McNally of Sherman and Heidi Brackett of Patten; grandchildren, Kaylan and Justin McNally of Island Falls, Emily and Erin McNally of East Millinocket, Jenn and Josh Lola of Monmouth; one great-grandson, Tucker of Monmouth; his sister, Roanne Morgan of Sherman; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his best friend and hunting buddy, John Sawyer; and his dog, Princess. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Dick and Ted; and his sister, Ruth. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Washburn Memorial Church, Sherman, with the Rev. Leon Robinson officiating. A meal will be after at Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, Stacyville.
