AUGUSTA – Ethel W. McLaughlin, 93, of Smith Street, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Augusta Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center after a long illness. She was born March 26, 1916, in Monticello, a daughter of the late Elbridge C. and Lottie W. (Williams) Wellington. Mrs. McLaughlin was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute, Houlton, Class of 1934. She had been employed for more than 20 years at Houlton High School and was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. McLaughlin was predeceased by her husband, Donald A. McLaughlin; a sister, Betty W. Piper; and a grandson, Ryan C. McLaughlin. She is survived by two sons, Joel E. McLaughlin of Bangor and Donald A. McLaughlin and his wife, Marion, of Sidney; a sister, Jean W. Terry of Williamsburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Shane W. McLaughlin and his wife, Meg, and Ashlee McLaughlin; a great-grandson, Cameron McLaughlin; as well as a niece and a nephew. At her request, there will be no public visiting hours or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the family lot at Monticello Village Cemetery, Monticello.
