PRESQUE ISLE and AUGUSTA – Jeanette B. Wheeler, a resident of Presque Isle for more than 80 years, died March 23, 2010, in Augusta. She was born Aug. 17, 1911, the second of four children to Charles (Harry) and Hepsie Burden of Presque Isle. Jeanette graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1929 and married Lisle C. Wheeler, Jan. 1, 1930, who predeceased her in 1995. Jeanette was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Presque Isle. She enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, painting and doing crafts. In addition to her husband; two sisters, Ella Keirstead and Kathryn Murphy; and a brother, Frederick Burden, predeceased her. She is survived by a daughter, Jane and her husband, Robert Whytock, of Augusta; their son, Robert of Freeport and his daughters, Holly and Elizabeth; and a daughter, Linda and her husband, David Kirstein, of Scarborough and their daughter, Katie and her husband, Adam Kessler, of Somerville, Mass., and their daughter, Aura, and their son, Andrew, both of Scarborough. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Rachel Burden of Presque Isle. Jeanette received excellent care from Dr. Elizabeth Hart and staff at Glenridge Nursing Facility, Augusta. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. May 29 at Estes Cemetery, Easton.
