LEWISBURG, W.Va. – Robert W. Lancaster, 86, passed away March 17, 2010, in Lewisburg, W.Va. He was born and raised in Maine and attended Bowdoin College. He was married to Edith Merrill for 50 years, who predeceased him. They resided in Charleston, W.Va., for 25 years, where he retired from C&P Telephone in 1985. He was an Army veteran, AARP volunteer, avid bridge player, served on the Girl Scouts and Alzheimer boards, and was a member of Rotary and Christ Church Methodist. Surviving relatives include his sister, Helen Oakes; brothers-in-law, Bucky Merrill and Don Kilgour, all of Maine; daughters, Elizabeth, who is married to John Arbuckle, of Lewisburg, W.Va., and Martha Lancaster, who is married to Jerry Cavallo; grandchildren, Robert and David Larson, Megan and Katie Lancaster Cavallo; great-grandchildren, Nate and Skylar Larson – all residing in Colorado. His body will be cremated and interred at a later time in Old Town, with a private family graveside service. The family requests that any memorial gifts be made to Hospice of West Virginia.
