BAR HARBOR – Richard “Dick” E. Lee, passed away to be home with his Lord March 24, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 29, 1952, in Bar Harbor, the son of Robert J. Sr. and Catherine (McGrath) Lee. He graduated from Mount Desert Island High School and the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Independence for six years. He married April Wiley of Cape Vincent, N.Y., in 1987. Dick worked on the trails crew for Acadia National Park and Don’s Shop and Save, Bar Harbor. His most recent employment was as an ed tech at Conners Emerson School, Bar Harbor. He was loved by many and always had a personal, positive word for all the students, parents and staff. He brought joy to everyone he met and always made a lasting impression. He was predeceased by his parents. In addition to his wife of 22 years, April, he is survived by three children, Mackenzie, Nathanael and Garrett Lee, all of Bar Harbor; sister, Karen (Lee) Farley of Bar Harbor; brothers, Robert and friend, Rhonda Carter, of Hancock Point and Wayne and fiancee, Trish Nolan, of Bar Harbor; several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 26, at First Baptist Church, 46 Ledgelawn Ave., Bar Harbor. A celebration of life in memory of Dick will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, at Conners Emerson School, Bar Harbor, with the Rev. Scott Records officiating. A reception will be held in the cafeteria after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Education Fund for the Lee kids at The First, 102 Main St., Bar Harbor, ME 04609.
