SIDNEY – Amanda “Mandy” Jackson Bickford, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010, surrounded by her family after her courageous 12-year battle with brain cancer. She was born Jan. 17, 1982. Amanda put up a fight for many years for her family, which she loved unconditionally. She enjoyed hearing her “daddy” sing and play guitar; she loved to karaoke with her “step-monster.” They called themselves “The Dudds.” The most wonderful gift she left was her son, Gabriel “The Boy.” She is survived by her beloved son, Gabriel Charles Jackson; father, Charles H. Jackson and wife, Tonya (Commeau); mother, Crystal Howe (Knox) and husband, Steve; brothers, Keith, Danny, Lance and Josh; her sister, Jasmine; grandmother, Virginia Jackson; grandfather, Jake Knox; stepgrandparents, Rick, Carol, Harold and Doris; Chuck and Tonya’s siblings, Anna, Sherry, Edward, Gloria, Nicole, Carrie, Stephanie, Sadie and Chris; her husband, Timothy Bickford; mother-in-law, Donna; and stepchildren. Amanda will be sadly missed by so many. The list of friends and family that loved and will miss Amanda would be phenomenal. She touched so many peoples’ lives in so many ways. She was predeceased by her sister, Sabrina Knox (Beanie); grandfather, Charles A. Jackson; and grandmother, Joyce Knox. Special thanks to her Aunt Anna and Uncle Jim for the generous gift of making sure “Our Princess” was respectfully laid to rest, Amber and Jasmine for taking “the night shift,” Bertha and Nicole for making her look so comfortable for her journey home, Delza for one of Amanda’s last wishes to be baptized, the home cooked meals, our Atwood family for taking care of Gabe, and all the support we received from everyone throughout the years. Thank you all so much. Her services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Oakland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gabriel’s name to TD Bank, 27 Main St., Oakland, ME 04963. There will be more details on Amanda’s life and family in the Morning Sentinel in Waterville.
