MADAWASKA – Aurise L. Bourgoin, 84, passed away March 28, 2010, at her residence. She was born Oct. 3, 1925, in St. Francis, New Brunswick, the daughter of Thomas Lizotte and Alphena Gagne. In her younger years, Aurise became a naturalized U.S. citizen in order to become a Cub Scout den mother. She was involved in numerous volunteer activities in the community. She also worked as the town librarian for a few years in Madawaska. She was recently awarded a 60-year pin and certificate for being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Aurise is survived by her son, John Bourgoin and his wife, Alice, of North Ferrisburgh, Vt.; a cousin, Priscilla Cannan and her husband, Dayton, of Madawaska; her closest friend and neighbor, Marie McDermott and her husband, Don, of Madawaska; and her loving neighbors, Bruce and Kellie Bosse of Madawaska, who took excellent care of Aurise throughout the years. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer “Sonny” Bourgoin, in 1974; and by a son, Michael Bourgoin. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and family may call 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Lajoie Funeral Home, Madawaska. Interment will be later in the spring at St. Thomas Cemetery.
