HOLDEN – Clarence “Mickey” Hurd, 63, died peacefully March 29, 2010, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 24, 1946, in Bangor, the son of Warren L. and Pearl A. (Fowler) Hurd. Mickey was an avid sportsman, and loved to hunt and fish with his father. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, metal detecting, and riding his motorcycle and Mustang. Mickey was employed with Maine Energy for 38 years and later with Honeywell. He loved his grandchildren and was hoping to be able to spend more time with them. Surviving are his wife and best friend of 43 years, Linda (Kinney) Hurd of Holden; his son, Colin Hurd and his wife, Tammy, of South Glastonbury, Conn.; grandchildren, Tyler and McKayla; two brothers, Warren Hurd of Oklahoma and Oakman Hurd of New Mexico; a sister, Sharon Millett of Holden; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews; a special friend, Roger Brownell; and all his poker buddies. He was predeceased by twin sons, Bruce and Brian; and by a brother, Wayne Hurd. The family thanks CancerCare of Maine for their kindness during the last few years. Relatives and friends are invited to call noon-1 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. with Andrew Files officiating.
