MARSHFIELD – Michael Eldridge passed away April 1, 2010, at his home after a brief battle with leukemia. Michael was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Toronto, eldest son of the late Harold Eldridge and Miriam Shaw Eldridge of Yorkshire, England. Michael was awarded U.S. citizenship after serving for the U.S. in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He studied at Harvard and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Lehigh University. He enjoyed working as an electrical engineer and business owner until retirement. He was a multi-talented individual and enjoyed the art of furniture making, painting, cooking, reading and gardening. He will be remembered and much missed by his friends and family for his kindness and generosity. He is survived by his wife, Karen Eldridge; children, Sigrid and husband, Derek Hardy, Brian and wife, Kimberly Eldridge, and Keith Eldridge and fiancee, Robin; grandchildren, Julia, Cameron, Tamrah, Jessica and Ben; great-grandchildren, Jolie Mae, Holly, Zachary, Gracie and Cody; sisters-in-law, Sonya Barbour and Susan Barone; his first wife and mother of his children, Ingrid Brown; and Ingrid’s sister, Stephanie and husband, Bill Drummond. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Julian Eldridge; and stepmother, Sigrid Eldridge. Per Michael’s wish, donations may be made for cancer research, hospice care or a kindness toward someone in need in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Machias and Lubec.
