DIXMONT – William Peter Hamernick, 83, passed away April 1, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 10, 1926, in Stamford, Conn., the son of Peter and Catherine (Teplica) Hamernick. Bill served our country during World War II in the U.S. Navy Seabees, serving in Saipan and Okinawa, Japan. He was an electronics specialist with the U.S. government and for CBS Laboratories. Bill and his late wife, Evelyn, were faithful communicants of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Matthews Catholic Church. He is survived by his children, Dale P. Aligo and her son, Jason Aligo, Ph.D., Barbara J. Brandt, Terry A. Hamernick and Michael J. Hamernick; and one brother, Edward Hamernick. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn (Flynn) Hamernick, Nov. 1, 1999. Family and friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Matthews Catholic Church, 70 Western Ave., Hampden.
