ELLSWORTH – Rhoda C. Brown, 92, passed away April 4, 2010, in Ellsworth. She was born Oct. 1, 1917, the daughter of Irvin H. and Fannie (Keezer) Carr. Rhoda grew up in Mariaville. She joined Mariaville Grange in 1932 and held many offices, including past master. She was also a member of Green Mountain Pomona and Maine State Grange for more than 75 years. She later joined Bayside Grange No. 476, where she was an active member. She was a life member of Nokomis Rebekah Lodge No. 73 and held many offices and was also the Maine assembly officer. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and cooking, and enjoyed helping with the suppers at Grange and lodge events. She is survived by her son, Howard of Westminster, S.C. She was Aunt Rhoda to June, Clyde, Reta, Richard and Robert, and by marriage to Holly, Bonnie, Dwight, Karen and Mark. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Brown; son, Lee H. Brown; two brothers, two sisters; and daughter-in-law, Evelyn Brown. An Eastern Star service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, April 12, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. Private burial will be held at Pyle Cemetery, Mariaville.
