JAMESTOWN, R.I. – Arthur E. Ronchie, 86, passed away April 13, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Mary K. “Katie” (McKeehan) Ronchie, for 49 years. Born in New York City, son of the late Jules K. and Jeanne (McKenzie) Ronchie, he was a lifelong resident of Jamestown, R.I. Mr. Ronchie served in the U.S. Navy and was aboard the first ship hit by a kamikaze in the South Pacific. After the war, he became a mechanic with the Naval Construction Battalion in Davisville, R.I. He retired in 1985 after 37 years. He was active in the community, serving as a member and past post commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Conanicut Grange, and Jamestown Ambulance Association. He also volunteered for Jamestown Senior Center. In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Donald A. of Jamestown, R.I., Keith W. and Kenneth L. of North Kingstown, R.I.; a daughter, Grace Clement and her husband, Edward, of Prospect; and four nephews, Douglas Wicks, Robert, Kenneth and David Esposito. He was the brother of the late Kenneth J. Ronchie, Charlotte Tucker and Hazel Esposito. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, R.I. A burial office will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 16, at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown, R.I.
