TOPSHAM and MATTAWAMKEAG – Vivian L. Tunks, 88, wife of the late Harlan Tunks, passed away April 18, 2010, at a Waterville health care facility. She was born July 27, 1921, in Lincoln, the daughter of Maurice and Fern (Rogers) Libby. Vivian was postmaster in Mattawamkeag for a number of years. While living in Mattawamkeag, she was very active in the United Methodist Church. She was a world traveler, spending time in Russia, China and all throughout Europe. Before moving to Topsham, she loved living in Venice, Fla., where she made many friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Irene Crocker. She is survived by two children: a son, Randy and his wife, Norma, of Waterville, and their children, Catherine, and Daniel and his wife, Megan; and a daughter, Anita Upham of Summerville, S.C., and her daughters, Sue Ferguson and husband, Tony and their children, Molly and Evie, and Stephanie Whited and husband, Tom and their son, Nicholas, and her son, Scott Upham and wife, Julie and their sons, Connor and Ethan. Vivian also leaves a sister, Nancy Batchelder; two brothers, Maurice and Earl Libby; as well as various nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Mattawamkeag Cemetery with the Rev. Leon Robinson officiating. Those who wish may donate in her memory to Mattawamkeag United Methodist Church.
