ADDISON – Mrs. Gertrude I. Gosnell, 89, formerly of Hadley Road, Greenville, Pa., passed away Friday, April 17, 2010, at a Bangor hospital, after an extended illness. Mrs. Gosnell was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Greenville, Pa., to her parents Lloyd Gaugh and Luella Hoover Gaugh. She graduated from Penn High School in 1938, and then attended and graduated from Artistic Beauty Academy, Sharon, Pa. On March 18, 1941, she married her husband, Raymond L. Gosnell, who predeceased her in 1977. Mrs. Gosnell owned and operated Gertrude’s Beauty Shop, North High Street, Greenville, Pa., for many years and then went to work at People’s Drug Store, where she retired as a manager. She was also a life long member of Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ, Greenville, Pa., and enjoyed reading, puzzles, traveling and her five grandcats. Mrs. Gosnell is survived by two sons, R. Edward Gosnell and his wife, Ann, of Addison, and Ronald Gosnell and his wife, Debbie, of Greenville, Pa.; two brothers, William Gaugh of Greenville, Pa., and Richard Gaugh of Greenville, Pa.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; and a grandchild, Randle Gosnell. The family likes to thank her caregiver, Tama Merchant. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 23, at Baird Funeral Home, 14 Louisa Ave., Greenville, Pa., where funeral services will be conducted in the chapel 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, with the Rev. Phil Garner, pastor of Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be at Espyville Cemetery, Chapel Road, Espyville, Pa.
