KENDUSKEAG and WALLINGFORD, Conn. – Mike A. Onerato, 64, died April 18, 2010, at his home in Kenduskeag, with his family and “girls,” after a long illness. He was born Nov. 9, 1945, in New Haven, Conn., the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Marciano) Onerato. He was the middle of three children. Mike graduated from high school and served in the Air Force to directly start his career. Mike was a truck driver/ owner operator for more than 45 years, which was the only true passion he ever had. He was married in 1969 to Leola (Pelletier) Onerato and eventually settled with her in Kenduskeag. They have two beautiful daughters that he was very proud of, Michele and Brigette. His true enjoyment was making people laugh, his “shocking” stories, cooking, eating and aggravating anyone he could, and giving everyone a nickname. In addition to his loving wife, Lee, he is survived by his beautiful girls, Michele Melanson and husband, Ralph, of Charleston, and Brigette Hanson and husband, Erik, of Bradford; his son, Michael Galvin of Newport; sister-in-law, Mary Onerato of Wallingford, Conn.; and sister, Mary Ruth of Waterbury, Conn. He also left behind five grandchildren, Jordan Melanson, Ross Wickett, Owen Hanson, Michael Galvin and Zoe Galvin; one great-granddaughter, Page Galvin; many nieces and nephews. He also left behind his beloved dog that was with him always, Sledge. He was predeceased by his beloved brother, George “Quick” Onerato, whom was quite dear to his heart. Relatives and friends are welcomed to join the family for a small service 4 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Mike and Lee’s house, 652 Kenduskeag/Levant Road.
