GUILFORD, Maine — Rockwall Gardens, Guilford’s newest business on Route 15, will be open to the public at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Sherry and Darius Desmarais and their children Adriena, 17, Kyla, 14, and Braydon, 10, plan a grand opening of their nurseries, which includes two greenhouses full of flowers, herbs, vegetable seedlings and shrubs.
“We always wanted to start a greenhouse,” Darius Desmarais said Thursday. His and Sherry’s parents were self-employed, so it seemed only natural that they also wanted to become self-employed, according to the couple.
Darius Desmarais said the business was built from the ground up with the help of family and friends.
In an effort to be eco-friendly, the couple have used organic soil, and most of the plants are in fiber-based pots.
The couple said they were looking forward to serving the public to meet their gardening needs.
The business will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday. For more information, call 564-3322.
