SKOWHEGAN, Maine — A Maine man has been sentenced to 4½ years in prison after he was convicted of shaking his baby son, who suffered a permanent brain injury.
Twenty-four-year-old Don LaRouche II, formerly of Bingham, was convicted in February of felony aggravated assault and assault on a child under the age of 6.
Authorities say the baby was 5 ½ months old at the time of the incident on Dec. 28, 2007.
The Morning Sentinel reports defense attorney Francis Griffin called the case a tragic one, but also one that lacked intent.
