CARMEL and BANGOR – Elizabeth M. Stanhope, 81, wife of the late John A. Stanhope, died April 22, 2010, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Jan. 18, 1929, in Cambridge, Mass., daughter of Burton and Mary (Eldridge) Ferson. Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by six sons, John of Hampden, James of Carmel, Jeffrey and Jay, both of Bangor, Joel and Jeremy, both of Carmel; three daughters, Elaine Dicenso of Bangor, Barbara Thompson of Port Richie, Fla., and Rosemary Snow of Casco; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Stanhope. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25, at the Family Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
