ALLAGASH and EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – Luther V. Kelly, 93, died Friday, April 23, 2010. He was the beloved husband of the late Velva M. (Hughes) Kelly. He was born in Allagash, son of the late Ransford and Mary (Mullins) Kelly. Prior to his retirement, Luther worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 30 years. He loved the outdoors, particularly northern Maine. He was an avid country music fan and he played the banjo. He loved his Bible and read it daily. He loved his family, especially his wife of 57 years, Velva. He is survived by two sons, Warren P. Kelly of East Hartford, Conn., and Brian P. Kelly and his wife, Linda, of Swanton, Vt.; three daughters, Kathryn K. Simmons and her husband, Alfred, of Harleysville, Pa., and Rosalie Kelly and Eleanor Peterson, both of Caribou; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Harlan Kelly; four brothers, Joe, Harley, Leonard and Henry Kelly; and three sisters, Gladys O’Leary, Flo Henderson and Sarah Jackson. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 26, at Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, Conn., where a funeral will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 27.
