HERMON – Ruth (Tozier) Nowell, 73, died Friday, April 23, 2010, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Feb. 26, 1937, in Carmel, the daughter of Earle and Eleanor (Warren) Tozier. Ruth grew up in Levant and was a 1955 graduate of Hermon High School. She retired from the Bangor Daily News after more than 30 years of service. Ruth enjoyed cooking, gardening and family gatherings, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Leland Nowell; sons, David Wiggin and his wife, Robyn, of Hermon, Steven Wiggin and his wife, Debra, of Hermon and Keith Wiggin and his wife, Pamela, of Levant; stepdaughter, Lauren Russell and her husband, Charles, of Kentucky; sister, Marion Pinkham and her husband, Sumner, of Glenburn; brothers, Rodney Tozier and his wife, Betty, of Bass Harbor and Charles Tozier and his wife, Patti, of Lamoine; grandchildren, Dustin, Christopher, Shannon, Jason, Jessica, Melisa, Ryan and Josh; great-grandchildren, Carter, Kaydience and Gavin; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her son, Scott; sister, Gail; and brothers, Robert, Clyde and Kenneth. A private graveside service will be held at Snow’s Corner Cemetery, Hermon.
