She was born March 12, 1923, in Bangor, daughter of the late Pauline Moody O’Connell and Leonard O’Connell. She attended Bangor High School and Beal Business College. She was married to her husband Leon for 65 years. They were not only husband and wife, but best friends. She especially loved to spend time with family, reading, walking, and shopping with her daughters. Her family was the center of her life. Betty had a very strong faith and was a member of Holy Family Church for more than 50 years. She is survived by her husband, Leon; three daughters, Cathy and her husband, Guy Phillips, of Wilton, Patti and her husband, Dennis Tewhey, of Glenburn and Julie and her husband, Everett Tewhey, of Old Town; her daughter-in-law, Sylvia Parady of Old Town; her grandchildren, Eric and his wife, Ellen, Amy, Kevin, Jill and her husband, Chris, Megan, Jennifer, Brian and his significant other, Sarah, Michael, Jamie, Chris, Katie and Lindsay; great-grandchildren, Maisie, Skylar, Lincoln, Vincent, Devon and Peyton; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by two children, Susan Parady and Dr. Thomas Parady; her sister, Margaret; and her brother, Paul. Betty was able to stay in her own home due to the dedication and loving care given to her by her daughters, Cathy and Julie; her granddaughter, Jennifer Parady; and the many wonderful caregivers from New England Home Health, Aging Excellence and Hospice of Eastern Maine. Our family expresses our sincerest thanks for all that you did to make her happy, contented and peaceful. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, at Holy Family Church, 429 Main St., Old Town. Burial will be afterward at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town.
