PITTSFIELD – Gloria Dawn Patterson Williams, 70, died peacefully Friday, April 23, 2010, surrounded by her loving family in Pittsfield. She was born July 13, 1939, in Clinton, the oldest child of Gerald and Clara (Tuttle) Patterson. She grew up in Clinton and attended New Brunswick Bible Institute, Victoria, New Brunswick. She graduated with the Class of 1960 and spent the next nine years doing missionary work with the Cree Indians in Northern Canada. In 1969, she married Shirley Williams of Pittsfield at Clinton Baptist Church. She became an instant mother to June, Steven and Robert. Janice joined their family a year later. She enjoyed working as a certified nurse’s aide at the local nursing home from 1980 to 2001. Gloria was a member of Mutton Lane Meeting House, Clinton, and enjoyed the fellowship at Canaan Calvary Church. She is survived by her husband, Shirley Williams; her daughter, June and her children, April Howes and Karen Inman; her son, Steven and his wife, Daryle and their children, Jason and Miranda; her daughter, Janice and her husband, Brett and their children, Kendra and Seth Ludden; four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Alex Inman and Serina and Hannah Howes; her two brothers, Chester and his wife, Marlene, and Dalton and his wife, Sandy; her sister, Nancy Burr; special aunts, Myrle Baldwin, Inez Tuttle and Lenora Tuttle; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Holly. She was predeceased by her parents; and her son, Robert. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 26, at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, at Canaan Calvary Church, Route 2, Canaan, with the Revs. Kevin Brooks and Lewis Bell officiating.
