LINCOLN – Dorothy E. “Dot” Fickett, 86, wife of Carl S. Fickett, went home to be with the Lord April 30, 2010, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born April 9, 1924, the daughter of Herman and Margaret (Elder) Smith from Woodland Junction. Dot was a graduate of St. Croix High School, Woodland, Class of 1941. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Machias Normal School and her master’s degree from the University of Maine. She taught school in Howland and Lincoln for 33 years. After her retirement she enjoyed spending her winters in Florida. She enjoyed writing cards and letters to friends and family. She was a devout member of Maranatha Riverside Church, Lincoln. Dot liked going camping and thoroughly enjoyed the special occasions she spent with her dear family. She and her husband spent many summers in fellowship at Living Waters Bible Camp. In addition to her husband of 65 years, Carl S. Fickett of Lincoln, she is survived by her nieces and nephews, Darlene Smith of New Hampshire, Doug Smith and Lisa of Princeton, Dorothy Muncey and Rick, of Lincoln, Dorene Elkins and Paul of Thorndike and Deborah Paradis and Glenn of Massachusetts and their families. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Leola and Belva; a brother, Donald and a nephew, David. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Keith Cushman and the Rev. Chet Dana officiating. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in her memory to Maranatha Riverside Church Paving Fund or Living Waters Bible Camp.
