SEDGWICK – Douglas Harvey Jones, 56, died unexpectedly May 2, 2010, at his residence. He was born Dec. 5, 1953, in Montclair, N.J., the son of George D. and Estelle V. (Edelmann) Jones. He was a graduate of Newark (N.J.) Academy and Colorado College. Doug was a longtime resident of Love Ladies Harbor, Long Beach Island, N.J. His love of sailing brought him to the Penobscot Bay area. He moved into the Means homestead in Sedgwick in 2005, where he enjoyed organic gardening. He was captain on the Miss Moggin of the Eggemoggin Inn, Brooklin. He was a fine cabinetmaker, designer and builder of unique furniture. Doug also was an avid skier, instructing at Sunday River. He is survived by his mother of Sedgwick; sister, Suzanne Peterson of Waitsfield, Vt.; brother, Robert Jones of Denver; niece, Heidi Peterson of Hanover, N.H.; nephew, Danford Peterson of Newport Beach, Calif.; and a very dear friend, Andrea Blunt of Bangor. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Jordan-Fernald, 141 South St., Blue Hill, with the Rev. Pamela Gross officiating. All are welcome at a reception with the family directly after the service at the Means Farm, 107 Reach Road, Sedgwick.
